Francis has been involved in the insurance industry for over 30 years both internationally and in the Australian insurance markets since 1988.  Before commencing with Liberty in 2022, Francis worked in leading insurers as National & APAC Claims Manager roles.

Francis holds a Bachelor of Laws (University of Manchester) and Barrister-at-Law (Lincolns Inn, London).

James has 10 years' experience in the insurance industry.  James practiced as a solicitor for a specialised insurance firm in Melbourne for 4 years.  Upon moving to Brisbane James managed casualty claims with large Australian insurers before joining Liberty in February 2018.

James has significant experience in handling complex personal injury, property damage, product liability and environmental related occurrences.  James has also handled product liability and management liability matters.

James appreciates that clients expect to be updated and advised as the matter progresses and will work with each insured and their brokers to obtain the most favourable outcome.

Jonathan manages a wide range of Professional Indemnity (PI) and Financial Lines claims across a variety of professions and industries.

Personal Profile

Jonathan has been working in the insurance industry and related fields for more than 20 years.  In that time he has gained experience across the spectrum of liability claims with particular emphasis on financial lines claims including PI and Directors' & Officers' Liability (D&O) claims.

Prior to joining Liberty, Jonathan was employed as a solicitor in the insurance practice of a national Australian firm.  He has also worked as a claims manager for a major general insurer and an independent claims manager.

Jonathan holds degrees of Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws and has been admitted to practice as a solicitor in Queensland. He is based in Brisbane.

Joining Liberty in 2021 with more than ten years' Surety industry experience, Alicia has a deep understanding of underwriting and portfolio management as well as credit risk analysis and cross-border transactions, client and agent facility documentation including syndicated and global cross-border facilities.  She has been involved in the management of distressed accounts in connection with senior management, the claims department, and legal counsel.

Alicia holds a Bachelor of International Business from Griffith University, Brisbane, and a Master’s of International Business Economics from Oxford Brookes University and she enjoys sharing her knowledge to develop junior staff members.

Tim is an experienced engineer and project and design manager who has worked across a diverse array of industries, including agriculture, mining, water, oil and gas, desalination, power generation, manufacturing and construction.  He has spent more than 20 years in the engineering and construction sector alone. 

Tim holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical).  He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia and a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ).

Mark has over 35 years of general insurance experience.  Before joining Liberty in 2003, he was a commercial development manager for a major international insurer, and had underwriting responsibility for property, liability and commercial motor products generated through middle market intermediaries.

For a few years after joining Liberty, Mark managed the developing portfolio of affinity business being written from the Brisbane office; more recently, his focus has been on open-market Casualty accounts, including construction.

Mark was appointed Queensland Casualty Manager in November 2017.

Natalie leads the Affinity team out of the Liberty Brisbane office, this includes underwriting casualty business via our programmes, facilities and commercial product offerings nationally.  

Personal profile

Natalie joined Liberty Brisbane in 2007 as a member of the administrative staff, soon transferring to the Casualty team as an underwriting assistant. Since then she has worked her way up to an underwriting position, gaining experience in underwriting and portfolio management of both facility and programme business.

Prior to joining Liberty, Natalie spent 6 years in retail customer service. She holds a Bachelor of Business with a major in Human Resources and is a member of ANZIIF.

As a senior Casualty underwriter, Richard’s main focus is on expanding the corporate, commercial and Construction (liability) business written out of the Brisbane office.

Personal profile

Richard began his insurance career in New Zealand 30 years ago.  When he joined Liberty in July 2013, he had spent the previous decade as the Queensland liability manager and liability product specialist (Casualty) for a large Australian insurer. Prior to that, he held various senior underwriting roles — with an emphasis on corporate Property and Construction insurance — for a major international insurer.

Richard is a Senior Associate and Certified Insurance Professional with ANZIIF.

As the National Professional & Financial Risks Portfolio Manager for our SME Business, Ashley underwrites the full suite of Liberty’s Professional & Financial Risks products, with a particular emphasis on Professional Indemnity (PI), Construction PI, Financial Institutions insurance and Information Technology insurance.

Ashley joined Liberty in 2011 with a decade of experience in the insurance industry, gained while working with a PI brokerage and as a financial lines underwriter for an insurance company.

Ashley holds a Bachelor of Business degree.

Nicole is based in the Brisbane office specialising in underwriting Professional Indemnity and Information Technology Liability for the Queensland market.

Personal Profile

Nicole joined Liberty in 2021 with over 16 years' experience in the insurance industry, working across Australia and Canada.  She has worked in various roles in the industry including on the claims side and on the broking side.

Nicole holds a Diploma of Insurance Broking - General Insurance as well as a Canadian CIP.

David joined Liberty in 2009 and works with Liberty staff in Australia and Asia, providing technical support to Casualty underwriters and claims staff.

David’s main focus is on General and Products Liability.  He conducts site visits and desk reviews for clients across a range of industries including construction, manufacturing, retail, chemical, transport and infrastructure.

David has experience in both First Party and Casualty Loss Control.  Before joining Liberty he worked in the Construction Materials Industry and ran his own risk management consulting firm.  David has Civil Engineering Qualifications and a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

Tim supports Liberty’s underwriters, brokers and clients to understand the key technical, delivery and Professional Indemnity risks associated with engineering and construction projects.

Personal profile

Tim is an experienced engineer and project and design manager who has worked across a diverse array of industries, including agriculture, mining, water, oil and gas, desalination, power generation, manufacturing and construction.  He has spent more than 20 years in the engineering and construction sector alone. 

Tim holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical).  He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia and a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ).

As a senior Surety underwriter based in the Brisbane office, Alicia is responsible for portfolio management, credit risk analysis and product development.

Personal Profile

Joining Liberty in 2021 with more than ten years' Surety industry experience, Alicia has a deep understanding of underwriting and portfolio management as well as credit risk analysis and cross-border transactions, client and agent facility documentation including syndicated and global cross-border facilities.  She has been involved in the management of distressed accounts in connection with senior management, the claims department, and legal counsel.

Alicia holds a Bachelor of International Business from Griffith University, Brisbane, and a Master’s of International Business Economics from Oxford Brookes University and she enjoys sharing her knowledge to develop junior staff members.

Yannick joined Liberty in 2023. His background as an analyst in corporate finance delivers strong analytical skills in financial due diligence, valuations, transaction support services and financial modelling. 

Yannick holds a Bachelor of Business in Finance from the Queensland University of Technology.

Graham commenced working life as a health professional and across ten years worked in public and private health settings.

Graham joined Liberty in 2022 with over 17 years' experience in insurance.  He started his career working as a private and public health professional, then moved into insurance focusing on Workers Compensation claim management.  He subsequently moved on to general insurance broking and a client service role, and he has worked with government clients for more than 17 years.

Graham has a Masters of Management (Personal Injury) and a Diploma of Insurance Broking.
